signed Steuben Art Deco c.1930 Pair of GAZELLES
Frederick Carder & Sidney Waugh designers
Consider this very rare handsome Pair of GAZELLES from the Art Deco early 1930's the perfect addition to your classics library or a wonderful gift for someone very special. This is an important vintage period pair designed by famed Steuben founder Frederick Carder in collaboration with the reknown sculptor Sidney Waugh. This is a "statement" pair of figurines/bookends, each extremely hefty (at approx. 4lbs per) and in superb condition with few signs of wear and no chips, no cracks and no scratches on the base bottoms. There are several tiny bubbles in the glass, common in handmade glass from this timeframe. It is rare to find a Carder era pair of figurines/bookends in this superb condition. Again, these would be the perfect gift for the bibliophile or a beautiful addition to your desk or library. Each gazelle is 7" high by just over 8.5" in length and 2.5" deep. Each is signed "steuben" along the front bottom edge. Each gazelle will be packed in it's own sturdy box and set into a larger sturdy box for safety with FREE INSURED PRIORITY MAIL SHIPPING to US lower 48 and credit towards shipping elsewhere!! I have set a very fair starting bid for an important early Carder/Waugh Gazelle pair for Steuben that are in superb condition with no hidden reserve. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It is the worlds foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glass continues to be hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Because it is hand made, each piece is unique. Steuben glass is frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben markets no “seconds”. Items that do not meet their exacting production standards are destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben is a luxury brand and the ultimate in art glass.
